Noggin, Sunday 21 Jan 2024 , The Fountain Inn, Ashurst.

The Noggin was at The Fountain Inn in Ashurst on a rather chilly and windy day. Only David and Linda Collins arrived in a Morgan, the rest of the 22 members who attended came in tin tops.

The Fountain is a 16th Century pub with landscaped gardens and a duck pond and quintessentially English interior.

We were seated in the barn on a very long table which accommodated everybody and almost felt like a medieval banquet ! The pub is well known for the fact that it was used by Sir Paul McCartney to film a music video for his song ” Wonderful Christmas time”

For those having roast dinners, entertainment was provided by ” flying Yorkshire puddings”. Being a windy day some of the  enormous but light yorkshire puddings flew off the plates of diners between the main restaurant and the barn and had to be retrieved by the waiters and put back onto plates!
