The 2022 London to Brighton Veteran Cars Run will take place on Sunday 6th November. It is advertised as celebrating the 120th anniversary of the 1902 Gordon Bennett race.
As is our custom, SexMog members gather at The Jolly Tanners at Staplefield to watch the cars go by. This is our November noggin. Warm clothing is advised.
I have spoken to the landlord of the pub and he is delighted to welcome us again. He intends to start serving breakfast at 8 am. And the pub does a mean lunch.
The pub can be found at post code RH17 6EF and is on the B2114 just south of Handcross. There is limited parking around and in front of the pub and there is more space in the lane opposite.
In the past, the police have closed the B2114 to north bound traffic. You are advised to take the A23 and turn off at Handcross, then travel south to Staplefield. The pub will be on your left.
The veterans start their journey at Hyde Park at 7:30 am and thence at timed intervals: oldest first and if two cars are the same age, smallest engine first.
Hard to be precise but I guess the faster cars will be coming past Staplefield at 9:30 am. The stragglers are still coming through at 5 pm.
No need to book with me, just turn up. You might want to phone the pub and try to book a lunch table. Tel 01444 400335. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any queries please contact me on email@example.com but don’t use the SexMog e-mail ring unless it’s something that everyone needs to know.
