Quentin English

Sadly on the morning of 23rd June Quentin passed away after a short illness.

Quentin was a long term Morgan owner having purchased his first flat rad Plus 4 in the mid sixties.

Originally a member of London Centre he campaigned his Plus 4 in production car trials and occasional sprints and was later a founder member of South East Centre (Hopmog) when it was formed in 1974 and more recently of this centre since he and Ann moved to High Salvington outside Worthing.

As a student Quentin attended Chelsea Art College where he met Ann and after leaving college followed a career in travel and tourism including working for the Bulgarian Tourist Board and later lecturing in travel and tourism at Carshalton Tech.

With this detailed knowledge of the industry he and Ann organised all the highly successful  Le Mans Classic trips from the first event in 2002 to the postponed 2020 event first for MSCC and since 2016 for Vinmog. He and Ann also organised trips to Vintage Montlhery, Alsace and the Alps, Giverny and Paris and many more.

Quentin was a legend the like of which we will never see again and will be missed by his many friends in the Morgan fraternity both here and overseas.

We offer our sincere condolences to Ann, Lucy and Matthew and their families at this time of their loss.

I for one have lost a very dear friend of over 40 years and will miss him terribly.

I  have been asked by Ann and the family to pass on the following message.
Paul Hawthorn
Centre Secretary
Dear friends
We would very much like to thank everyone for the many messages of love and support we have been receiving since Quentin’s death on Tuesday 23 June 2020.
Your touching (and often funny) memories of Q have provided us with much strength and comfort during this time. We are sorry we haven’t been able to reply to all of them, but please know that you are making a difference. We are still in shock – but you’ll be reassured to know that he was still cracking (bad) jokes until the end.
Thank you to those who have suggested the idea of a Vinmog celebration at Le Mans Classic in 2021, we love the idea. We will also be arranging a UK-based event to celebrate his life, when such gatherings are allowed.
The funeral is on Thursday 9th July. Due to the Covid-19 situation it is limited in number and will be family only. Rather than flowers, we have set up a donation page for Macmillan in Q’s memory. You will find this at https://macmillan.tributefunds.com/quentin-english. We would be delighted if you would share your memories of Q on this page and take a moment to look at some photos and messages from others. Please feel free to share this message to all who knew him.
With love
Ann, Lucy and Matthew
